girls by water

when life gets nutty, look for nature.

We were in Riverside Park for Big Girl's soccer game. It was sweltering hot and we were all tired. Little Girl announced that she needed to use the potty so we raced off to the public bathroom before the game began. The bathroom was dirty and she refused to go and I was sweating and exhausted. On our way back, I looked out at the river and it was sparkling in the hot sun and instead of rushing away, I plopped my little girls down and took some pictures. They lingered there in their little dresses and had a conversation. And I hung back, savoring this, the sight of my babies against blue water and sky on a June day, and I smiled. For a moment or two, I forgot about the ninety degree heat and the hustle and bustle of my day.
